Database needs to be rebuilt errors
Users sometimes experience an error telling them the database needs to be rebuilt. This error is not what it says it is.
Database Problem Detected - needs to be rebuilt - just means you have lose connection to the database
This error message is misleading. Your database does not need to be rebuilt. It just means that you have lost connection to the Time Matters database.
This error screen has been in Time Matters for many years. This screen is from Time Matters 8, but all version will show the same error.
The database does NOT need to be rebuilt.
Troubleshoting Step 1 - Can you connect to the server where Time Matters is located
In the example above Time Matters files is located at \\matt-u6\timematters
Troubleshooting step 2 - Can you create a data source in Administration Tools
if we can connect to the SQL server this way, we know it is not a SQL issue and we look at Time Matters
Possible causes 1 - network connection turned off to save power
Time Matters requires a constant connection to the database. If the network card turns off to save power that constant connection can be dropped causing issues in Time Matters
Configure your network card.
